Description
Product Information
MCT Aqua is an Unflavored, nutritionally incomplete emulsion consisting of approximately 50% MCT oil and 50% water.
MCT Aqua is Derived from Palm kernel in order to minimize the presence of long-chain fatty acids (<1%). Even though Lauric acid (C12:0) still belongs to the classification of medium chain fatty acids, we were able to minimize the presence to <2.5%.
It has a very low viscosity, an excellent oxidative stability with essentially no odor or flavor. The molecules are slightly polar which makes it dissoluble in a variety of substances. The product contains no trans fatty acids. This product by nature is lactose-free and gluten-free. It is also GMO free and suitable for adults and children.
MCT Aqua comes in a 125 ml bottle which is a smaller size than most products on the market. Especially for medical nutrition, it is important to ensure the bottle to be used as short as possible after opening, to minimize the risk of contamination.
We chose to transform Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCT) Oil into an emulsion to elevate the overall product attributes and enhance its performance.
The emulsification process ensures a more efficient and consistent delivery of MCT Oil benefits. By converting MCT Oil into an Emulsion, we aim to optimize the user experience, making it easier to incorporate into various applications, while maintaining the inherent nutritional advantages associated with MCT Oil. This strategic decision aligns with our commitment to delivering high-quality, innovative products that meet the evolving needs of our consumers.
Enhanced Absorption and Digestibility of MCT Aqua: These are designed to enhance the digestibility and absorption of MCTs by mimicking the natural emulsification process that occurs during digestion. This can be particularly beneficial for individuals with compromised digestion or absorption. Pure MCT Oil, while still more easily absorbed than long-chain triglycerides (LCTs) may sometimes cause gastrointestinal distress, such as diarrhea or cramping, when consumed in large amounts.
Versatility and Ease of Use: MCT Aqua can be more easily mixed with aqueous solutions, making them ideal for enteral feeding formulas, medical nutritional supplements and even everyday use in beverages without the oily texture that can come with Pure MCT Oil. Pure MCT Oil is typically used in medical nutrition, dietary supplements or as an additive in few beverages and foods. However, it doesn’t mix well with water-based liquids, limiting its use in certain applications.
Taste and Palatability: In MCT Aqua, the process of emulsification can improve the taste and mouthfeel of MCTs, making them more palatable, especially when added to nutritional products or meals for those with special dietary needs. On the other hand, Pure MCT Oil has a very neutral taste but can leave an oily mouthfeel that some find unpleasant, especially when added to cold or room-temperature beverages.
Nutritional and Clinical Applications: The ease of use, digestibility, and versatility make MCT Aqua particularly suited for medical nutrition, especially for patients who have specific fat absorption disorders, are on tube feeding, or require a very controlled intake of fats. Pure MCT Oil is still beneficial for energy production and metabolism, and is more commonly used in medical nutrition, dietary supplements for weight management, sports nutrition, patients who have specific fat absorption disorders and by those following a ketogenic diet.
In summary, MCT Aqua offer practical and nutritional advantages over Pure MCT Oil, especially in medical and specialized dietary applications, by being easier to digest and incorporate into a wide variety of diets and formulations, thus reducing gastrointestinal side effects and improving overall patient or user compliance.

- For the use in liver disease, it is crucial that the type of disease, the severity of the disease, the dose of the MCT supplementation and the duration of the MCT supplementation has been evaluated. MCTs show clear positive effects in several conditions but since they are processed primarily by the liver, they potentially can cause problems in some Liver Conditions.
